Competitive Technologies, Inc. Grants License to Linux Software Labs, Inc.
Fairfield, CT (May 9, 2006) – Competitive Technologies, Inc. (AMEX: CTT) today announced that a license has been granted to Linux Software Labs, Inc. of Swartz Creek, Michigan, for use of intellectual property relating to CTT’s Event Driven Information System technology, including systems using RFID.
"We are very pleased to grant this license to Linux Software Labs, a recognized leader in innovative Linux operating system-based designs" said Mike Kiley, CTT’s Executive VP and Chief Technology Officer. "This agreement marks another successful step in CTT’s active licensing program and in building a stronger base for recurring revenue. We believe that developing this relationship with Linux Software Labs also opens the door for future collaboration and expanded market presence."
"This license demonstrates our commitment to our customers and their needs," stated Jason Moehlman, President of Linux Software Labs, Inc. "We look forward to building a significant part of our business around this technology."
In other news, CTT announced today that the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit ruled in favor of CTT in a case brought by a former employee. The decision, which was handed down by the Court on May 1, 2006, vacated an injunction issued by the U.S. District Court in Connecticut directing CTT to reinstate former employee J. Scott Bechtel as a Vice President of CTT. Previously, Mr. Bechtel had filed a complaint with the Occupational Safety & Health Administration pursuant to a provision of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, alleging whistleblower discrimination and wrongful termination. In October 2005, a U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) had dismissed the claims filed against CTT by Mr. Bechtel; that decision was appealed to the Administrative Review Board of the DOL and is still pending.
"We are pleased and vindicated by the Court's decision with respect to this important issue. The decision complements the findings of the ALJ in the underlying case and supports the law by protecting companies from being held hostage until meritless claims filed under Sarbanes-Oxley are dismissed," commented Paul A. Levitsky, CTT’s Vice President and General Counsel.
