Description:
White light emitting diodes use either phosphors to convert the emission or mix red, green and blue (R-G-B) light. White light LEDs are used for many backlighting applications such as cell phones, digital cameras and auto dashboards. Complete mixing of R-G-B color in a backlight unit generally requires a thick diffuser, which also imposes light loss. This technology provides a three-in-one LED package with a fanned-out fiber bundle that mixes R-G-B colors to yield a uniform white light.
Advantages:
The novel package can provide a reduced thickness backlight unit with uniform color mixing while allowing more light to be provided by eliminating thick diffusion plate.
