High-Power Atomizer
The patented rotary disc High-Power Atomizer (HPA) technology, designed to increase efficiency and effectiveness, is a rotary disc atomizer with a disc with two opposite surfaces and a peripheral edge rotating around a single axis. The disc has openings so that when liquid is supplied to one of the surfaces it flows toward the edge, and droplets are sprayed from the edge. Simultaneously, the liquid also flows through holes to the opposite surface, flowing radially outward on that surface, forming droplets that are thrown from the edge of that surface. A regular rotary disc atomizer includes a single disc, rotated at a high-speed, with liquid supplied on its surface so that the liquid flows over the surface to the peripheral edge and then is thrown outwardly from the peripheral edge in form of droplets.
The HPA discs can generate any type of droplet sizes, ranging from fog droplets to coarse rain droplets, 7-12 microns to 300-500 microns and more, by changing the rotation speed of the disc. They produce homogenous droplets in a narrow range of sizes.
The HPA doubles the productivity of discs currently on the market without altering the droplet size or the disc parameters. Assembly of several of these discs in a row on a rotary shaft produces an exceptionally powerful atomizer. HPAs do not need calibration or a high-pressure pump. The technology does not require high-voltage, potentially dangerous electrical equipment, as does an electrostatic nozzle. The HPA is very efficient because the atomizers can consist of multiple discs producing a great amount of power, with each disc replacing several ordinary nozzles.
The HPA belongs to the class of spinning disc atomizers with ultra low volume (ULV) technology, enabling use to be environmentally friendly since minimal amounts of pesticides enter the soil and agricultural products.
The HPA may be produced quickly, easily and cheaply from plastic by a stamping method, producing a low-maintenance, durable and long-lasting, light, small-size, economical product. It can also be produced from metal for both aviation and ground use.
